OTHER PROCEDURES WE DO

CAUTERY/CRYOTHERAPY

Cautery is a medical practice or technique of burning a part of a body to remove or close off a part of it. It destroys some tissue in an attempt to mitigate bleeding and damage, remove an undesired growth, or minimize other potential medical harm, such as infections when antibiotics are unavailable. Cryo-cautery is used to treat cervical ectropion or ectopy, which happens when the more delicate cells lining the inside of the neck of the womb are exposed to the surface of the neck of the womb.

BP & BMI

BP measurement involves measurement of the blood pressure 3 times to get an average. This allows the clinician to remove bias, minimise human error and identify abnormal readings. BMI measurement relates to the standard ratio of height to weight, which is a good indicator of muscle mass.

DEPO PROVERA INJECTION

Depo-Provera is given as an injection every three months. Depo-Provera typically suppresses ovulation, keeping your ovaries from releasing an egg. It also thickens cervical mucus to keep sperm from reaching the egg.

REPLACEMENT OF LTC AND SPC CATHETERISATION

This is a service where we replace a catheter. Catheterisation is a procedure used to drain the bladder and collect urine, through a flexible tube called a catheter.

Venepuncture/Phlebotomy Service

A small needle insertion to the vein to draw out blood samples for diagnostics/investigations.

REMOVAL OF STITCHES

Performed by a surgical mini blade precisely created for suture removals. (Post - Operative or minor sutures)

PREGNANCY URINE TEST

This is a urine test to detect pregnancy.

24 HOUR ABPM & INTERPRETATION

A 24hr ABPM monitors Blood Pressure every 30-60minutes. A cuff is attached to the arm along with a portable device carried within a bag. Reading of the result will be explained and given to the patient. This is used to identify abnormal readings within the past 24hrs or if the patient has potential ? WHITE COAT.

EAR SYRINGING

We offer an ear syringing service for either one ear or both ears where we remove ear wax build up. This is a safe, gentle and effective method of ear wax removal and, in the majority of cases, provides instant relief and immediately restores full hearing.

SPIROMETRY

This is a specialised breath test to check the lung volumes and overall lung function of an individual. It is used to test for Chronic lung disease and Asthma. The procedure takes 5-10 minutes to perform. The cost is available on the website.

URINALYSIS TEST

This is a routine screening tool which involves dipping a urine sample to identify abnormal amounts of blood, protein, glucose, white cells and other measurements. This can help to identify problems with the bladder, kidneys and pelvis.

WOUND REVIEW AND DRESSING

Irrigated with saline and then dressed according to the wound. Further risks of potential infections assessed and along with aftercare advice.

FENO TEST

A FENO test is used as the first line of investigation for patients if a diagnosis of asthma is being considered.
